MCDBA in Brief

The Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) certification is one of the top flight Microsoft certifications for professionals who work with, migrate and administer Microsoft SQL Server databases. Through the process of obtaining your certification you will demonstrate the required skills to successfully design, implement and administer SQL Server databases on a multitude of scales. MCDBA certification candidates should have one year, or more, of experience working with Microsoft SQL Server technology before attempting to complete the certification.

MCDBA Certification Overview

Professionals who are in the IT field in the capacity of working with databases and database servers will be able to apply the MCDBA certification to its fullest extent. Specifically designed to assist those who work managing and maintaining databases, creating physical databases, creating data services using Transact-SQL, or simply monitor, repair and optimize databases - the MCDBA is a Microsoft-specific certification.

This MCDBA certification validates the unique set of skills required to succeed in the multitude of database management roles, such as administrator, analyst and developer. Your skills will be tested against and evaluated to the benchmark standards for Microsoft SQL Servers up to and including Microsoft SQL Server 2003.

Acquired Skills

As with most technologies there are varieties of methods to utilize the capabilities of that tech. And as with most of those technologies there is a correct or proper method to use. By becoming a certified MCDBA, you demonstrate the skills necessary to lead organizations in the successful design, implementation, and administration of SQL Server databases - using the best methods of solving problems and designing for efficiency and optimization.

Completing the MCDBA certification will elevate and/or confirm you existing skill sets to match the benchmarks set for Microsoft Windows SQL Server 2000 and/or 2003. Acquiring the MCDBA certification also prepares you for the next two certification in the series of dynamic server and network data infrastructure management the MCTS and MCITP. Only one exam will separate you from each of these subsequent certifications - building upon your MCDBA qualifications.
